US CDC Lists Indonesia at Level 1

The handling of COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia—both at the national and provincial levels—has been improving, the national COVID-19 Task Force Spokesperson Reisa Broto Asmoro has announced.

According to her, the trend of weekly cases in the country has dropped by 23 percent and mortality rate has also dropped by 16 percent compared to that of the previous week.

“To date, more than four million Indonesians have been infected by the COVID-19, but 96.3 percent of those have recovered and active cases in the country are below one percent,” Reisa said in a press statement at the Presidential Office, Jakarta, Friday (29/10).

The achievement has placed Indonesia into the green zone (country with low COVID-19 risks and is safe to visit) by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

“The CDC wants travelers from the US to make sure they are fully vaccinated before travelling to Indonesia,” Reisa said.

On the other hand, the daily cases in Europe almost reached 100 thousand cases per day while in the US reached more than 70 thousand. “We must continue to pray that the situation in other countries will improve soon since the pandemic will not end in Indonesia if it does not end in the whole world,” Reisa added.

Reisa further said that President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo will reverberate the call to “recover together, recover stronger” on the global stage.

“As the Chair of G20 for the next year, the President invites all developed countries to join hands to ensure equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines and to fight COVID-19 together, as well as to ensure the treatment and prevention are carried out,” she remarked. (BPMI SETPRES/UN) (GWH/MUR)
