Remarks of President of the Republic of Indonesia on Inauguration of Pidekso Dam in Wonogiri Regency, Central Java Province, 28 December 2021

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim,

Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh,

Alhamdulillah today we are going to inaugurate Pidekso dam in Wonogiri regency, Central Java province.

The land acquisition process for the construction of the dam, which was built with a total budget of Rp772 billion, started in 2014 with the construction having been carried out since 2017. The dam has a capacity of 25 million cubic meters with a pool area of 232 hectares. It is expected to irrigate approximately 1,500 hectares of rice fields in Wonogiri regency.

If we want to achieve food self-sufficiency and food sovereignty, reservoirs are the key. Water is the key. Therefore, we are building reservoirs in all provinces throughout the country.

This morning, I just inaugurated Ladongi dam in Southeast Sulawesi province and now I am inaugurating Pidekso dam in Wonogiri regency, Central Java province.

That concludes my remarks on this occasion.
