New Capital Authority Unveils Plan for New Capital Development
Planning, implementation, and regulations are pivotal in developing the new capital city, according to Chairperson of the New Capital City Authority (IKN) Bambang Susantono.
Bambang stated that the Government is currently completing a number of regulations to support the development of the new capital city.
“We are currently completing four Presidential Regulations drafts and two Government Regulation drafts. We will synchronize them and ensure they are compatible one into another,” Bambang said in his statement after he and Vice Chairperson of the New Capital Authority Dhony Rahajoe met with President Joko Jokowi” Widodo at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Tuesday (03/29).
In terms of planning, Bambang stated that his party continues to join hands with relevant Ministries and Agencies, working on macro planning and micro one for the new capital development.
“Mr Dhony and I have held many meetings with ministries and agencies to see the consistency of the regulations. This is very important for our partnership in the future, he said.
Regarding the implementation, Bambang said that currently the Government is making a number of preparations so that the new capital development would comply with the Governments commitment to protect the environment.
“All in all, the two of us will carry out planning, implementation and regulations, as well as coordination with various ministries and agencies. We will also carry out communication measures and collaboration. The collaboration is carried out with various elements of communities,” Bambang said.
Bambang further said that the new capital development would be carried out in a long period. Therefore, communities could contribute to supporting the new capital development through crowdfunding.
“If we look at laws, we have several options, including funds from the Government through the State Budget, Regional Budget, or PPP (Public-Private Partnership), as well as funding from communities. Communities can also get involved and to certain extent they can participate in the construction of various facilities on the ground, Bambang remarked.
Bambang also said that until now, there have been many initiatives from communities to participate in the construction of various facilities in the new capital. Bambang also welcomed the initiatives and stated that his party would facilitate principle matters to maintain the harmony of the new capital design.
“For example, were contacted by the global diaspora, eight million Indonesians living abroad. They say that they want to have a Diaspora housing in the new capital. That is the example of a good initiative from communities. They will also provide funding for the construction,” he remarked. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/AIT) (RI/HD/LW)
