President Jokowi Inaugurates Brebes-Tegal Ring Road

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo inaugurated the 17.4-kilometer Brebes-Tegal Ring Road, in Brebes Regency, Central Java, on Wednesday (04/13). The infrastructure will complete the national road net along Northern Coast of Java and Trans Java Toll Road.

“The road is provided with eight bridges; five bridges in Brebes and three bridges in Tegal. The ring road completes the structure of the national road net along Northern Coast of Java and the road net of Trans Java Toll Road,” President Jokowi said during the inauguration.

President Jokowi is also optimistic that the infrastructure will reduce the traffic burden in Brebes and Tegal.

“By operating the Brebes-Tegal ring road, the traffic is estimated to decrease up to 48 percent, the connectivity will be better, and the traffic flow in Tegal and Brebes will be smoother,” the President said.

In particular, the President hoped that the ring road can smooth the flow of mudik (the homecoming ritual) prior to Eid al-Fitr.

“We know that Northern Coast of Java is a very important track to make smooth traffic flow, especially during homecoming ritual prior to Eid al-Fitr. The road will be one of the alternative tracks for homecoming ritual prior to Eid al-Fitr, so the people will have smoother and faster traveling to get to the destination,” he remarked.

Also accompanying President Jokowi during the inauguration were Minister of Public Works and Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, and Governor of Central Java Ganjar Pranowo. (FID/UN) (AW/HD/LW)
