President Jokowi Expresses Condolences Over Passing of Sheikh Khalifa
President Joko “Jokowi“ Widodo on Sunday (05/15) visited United Arab Emirates to express his condolences following the passing away of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
After flying for approximately 14 hours from Washington DC, United States of America, President Jokowi, First lady Ibu Iriana and their entourage arrived at Abu Dhabi International Airport, United Arab Emirates, Sunday (05/15) around 15:50 local time.
On that occasion, President Jokowi met with His Excellency Mohamed bin Zayed and conveyed his condolences.
“Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un. On behalf of the Government and on behalf of the people of Indonesia, I would like to express my deep condolences over the passing of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa and may he be bestowed the grace from Allah Subhanahu wa ta’ala ,” the President said.
President Jokowi said that Sheikh Khalifa was a great leader not only for the United Arab Emirates but also for the region and the world.
“Sheikh Khalifa was a great leader and the passing of him is a great loss for us, particularly Muslim communities. He was a great leader not only for the United Arab Emirates but also for the Middle East region, as well as for the world,” President Jokowi said.
After expressing condolences, President Jokowi continued his flight to Indonesia at around 18.20 local time and is expected to arrive at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Tangerang, Banten on Monday (05/16) morning. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/UN) (RI/LW)
