Distinguished Regent of Ende and all Regents in attendance,
Ladies and Gentlemen, my fellow Indonesians, especially the people of Ende and East Nusa Tenggara,
Today on June 1, 2022, we commemorate the birth of Pancasila in Ende city, East Nusa Tenggara. In this city that is very rich in history, Bung Karno, the proclaimer of independence, a founding father, contemplated and formulated Pancasila that was then approved by the Preparatory Committee for Indonesian Independence (PPKI) as the state ideology and bequeathed to the nation and the state.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
From the city of Ende, I urge all children of the nation wherever they are to join hands to implement and actualize the sacred values of Pancasila in the life of the people, the nation, and the state. Pancasila has not only united us all, but Pancasila has also become the guiding star when Indonesia faces challenges and difficulties. It has been proven time and time again in the history of the nation that our nation and state can remain to stand firmly as a strong nation because we all agree to make Pancasila our cornerstone.
However, I always reiterate that we must truly practice Pancasila and fight for Pancasila. We manifest it in the system of our society, nation, and state. We implement it in governance and also in interactions among Indonesians. This is our shared duty, the duty of all national components to use Pancasila as an ideology that is at work, that is present, that brings benefits to the entire nation of Indonesia.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
The world is currently facing a turmoil. The COVID-19 pandemic is not over yet, followed by energy and food crises, and threats of extreme poverty and starvation, and the Ukrainian war. As the G20 Presidency, we urge all developed countries in the world to work together to create a better humanity, to build a global healthcare system that is able to face future crises, with a healthier, more peaceful, more humane, and more just global governance.
Finally, I urge all leaders of the nation, especially government officials, religious leaders, public figures, educators, political party leaders, community organization leaders or figures, and other leaders to become an example in actualizing the values of Pancasila, to urge everyone to actively move to strengthen the values of Pancasila in moving towards an advanced Indonesia, in realizing the goals of the independence proclamations.
May God the Almighty always bless our shared struggle.
I thank you.
Wassalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
God bless.
Om Santi Santi Santi Om.
Namo Bhuddaya.
Independence!
