President Jokowi Inaugurates Rumpin Nursery Center, Mangrove Rehabilitation in W. Java
Rumpin Nursery Center will become a tangible manifestation of the Government’s commitment in addressing climate change and restoring damaged environment, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has said.
The statement was made by the President while inaugurating Rumpin Nursery Center and during the launching of Mangrove Rehabilitation and World Mangrove Center at Rumpin Nursery Center in Bogor regency, West Java province, Friday (10/0).
In the next three years, the Government, the President added, has set a target to build 30 nursery centers throughout Indonesia.
“If we have 30 nursery centers, it is estimated that they will produce approximately 360 million seeds,” President Jokowi said, adding that seeds produced at the nursery will be distributed to regencies/cities with critical lands, regions with high-risk landslide potential, and river basin areas (DAS) in all over Indonesia.
“It is a rehabilitation process, an improvement of our environment through concrete actions,” he said.
For the record, concretes step to rehabilitate environment in Indonesia have begun in several regions, one of which in Ciliwung river in Jakarta.
On that occasion, the Head of State also said that Rumpin Nursery Center is a form of solid partnership between the Central Government and major companies in the country. He also expressed gratitude to the World Bank and the German Government for their support in realizing the nursery center with professional management governance.
Furthermore, President Jokowi also released the distribution of seeds produced at Rumpin Nursery Center to several regions in Indonesia.
There were four types of seeds released by the President including manglid (Manglietia glauca), sengon (Albizia chinensis), Indonesian bay leaf (Eugenia polyantha Wight.), soursop (annona muricata). (RAH/UN) (AP/EP)
