VP Ma’ruf Amin Calls on People to Build Indonesia Together
Vice President Ma’ruf Amin and his spouse Ibu Wury Ma’ruf Amin Wednesday (08/17) arrived at Merdeka Palace at around 09.45 Western Indonesian Time (WIB) to attend a ceremony to commemorate the 77th Proclamation of Independence of the Republic of Indonesia.
On that occasion, the Vice President encouraged the people to prepare themselves with enthusiasm to fulfil the call to build the country.
“Indonesia is now preparing herself. I am appealing to everyone to rebuild the spirit of nationalism and the spirit of sincerity to fulfill the call from the country,” he said.
Unlike the struggle to fight for independence in 1945, he added, Indonesia is currently struggling to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic and the global crises.
“On August 17, 1945, we faced enemies for our freedom. Now we are facing two things, including post-COVID recovery. We will also prepare ourselves to face new challenges from the global crises, be it the energy crisis and the financial crisis,” he explained.
Concluding his remarks, the Vice President further said that the theme for this year’s celebrations of ‘Recover faster, Rise stronger’ was chosen to invite the Indonesian people to break the silos and build the nation together. (MAY/AIT/UN) (RIF/EP)
