Iriana Joko Widodo Meets First Lady of the Philippines

First Lady of Indonesia Iriana Joko Widodo Monday (09/05) met the First Lady of the Philippines Louise Araneta Marcos, who came to Indonesia with her spouse President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr. for a state visit.

Together with President Jokowi and President Ferdinand, Ibu Iriana and Ibu Louise planted ironwood. Afterward, the First Ladies had a conversation at the veranda while the Presidents had a meeting.

During the bilateral meeting, Ibu Iriana also invited Ibu Louise to see the traditional textile exhibition of Badui tribe, an indigenous Sundanese ethnic group of Banten province, with a music of kecapi, a traditional Sundanese string instrument, playing on the background.

Ibu Iriana and Ibu Louise also watched the process of fabric weaving.

On that occasion, Ibu Iriana gave traditional Badui woven fabric to Ibu Louise as a souvenir.

After that, Ibu Iriana entertained Ibu Louise with tea and had small talks. The First Ladies then accompanied their spouses when they delivered a joint press statement. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/UN) (DH/MMB)
