President Jokowi Inaugurates Revitalization of Halim Perdanakusuma Airport Facilities

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, Wednesday (10/05), inaugurated the revitalization of Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base facilities.

The President signed an inscription to mark the inauguration.

The revitalization was aimed at improving land and air facilities to enhance flight safety, security, and comfort.

As stated in Presidential Regulation Number 9 of 2022, the revitalization consisted of:

  1. improving runway and taxiway,
  2. increasing apron capacity for VIP and VVIP aircrafts,
  3. renovating VIP and VVIP buildings,
  4. renovating operational buildings,
  5. improving the drainage system within the air base/airport,
  6. arranging other facilities that need to be adjusted due to the revitalization work.

After the revitalization, the runway with the size of 3,000 meters x 45 meters is now feasible to serve wide-bodied aircrafts, such as Boeing-777.

In addition, the apron capacity for VIPs and VVIPs has increased from three small-bodied aircrafts to four small-bodied aircrafts or two wide-bodied aircrafts.

As for the land facilities, the area of VIP and VVIP buildings has increased from 1,500 square meters to 5,270 square meters and the area of the Air Force operational terminal has been expanded from 500 square meters to 2,230 square meters.
