Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy/Agency for Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf/Baparekraf) Sunday (10/30) held the 2022 Indonesian Tourism Village Award Night (ADWI) at Soesilo Soedarman Hall, Sapta Pesona Building, Jakarta.

“I would like to express my appreciation to 50 best tourist villages. They are proof that Indonesia is bouncing back. They open a new era in developing quality, sustainable, and inclusive tourism. They also provide job opportunities,” said Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf)/Head of the Agency for Tourism and Creative Economy (Baparekraf) Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno.

The Minister also expressed appreciation to everyone who has supported in organizing the 2022 ADWI, namely the board of judges, tourism village managers, business players, and government officials at both central and regional levels.

“I would also like to express my gratitude for the participation of 3,419 tourism villages from 34 provinces. I’d like to convey my special appreciation to regional governments and regional heads that have explored the future potential of tourism villages,” he said.

Sandiaga went on to say that the 2022 ADWI program aims to stimulate economy in the villages and as a way to promote tourism villages in the country for both domestic and foreign visitors.

There are seven aspects of assessment, namely visitor attractions, homestay, digital and creative elements, souvenirs, public toilets, application of cleanliness, health, safety, and environmental sustainability (CHSE) value, and village institutions.

“We should prioritize visiting domestic tourism destinations and develop Proud of Made campaign in Indonesia,” he remarked.  (JW/UN) (FI/HD/EP)
