President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Friday (11/11) emphasized that comprehensive, concrete partnership between ASEAN and the United Nations must continue to be enhanced.

“Hotline between UN Secretary-General and ASEAN’s Minister of Foreign Affairs must be established to carry out early detection and quick response to regional potential challenges that can affect the world [and global potential challenges that can affect the region],” the President added.

The Head of State went on to say that the spirit of UN reformation should not be faded. The UN, he continued, must serve as “multilateralism protector” to provide best solutions to global challenges.

“The UN must encourage to stop the war immediately,” the President stressed.

On that occasion, President Jokowi expressed his gratitude to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guteres for the hard work in handling global crisis including food crisis, energy crisis, financial crisis, as well as crisis due to war in Ukraine.

“In my capacity as champion of the Global Crisis Response Group (GCRG), Indonesia will continue to support UN Secretary-General,” he remarked. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/AIT) (AP /MUR)
