President Jokowi, UAE President Inaugurate Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Solo

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and President of United Arab Emirates (UAE) Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan (MBZ) Monday (11/14) inaugurated Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque of Solo in Central Java province.

At the city’s Adi Soemarmo International Airport, President Jokowi welcomed the arrival of President MBZ in person and subsequently headed to the grand mosque, which is located in Gilingan village, Banjarsari district, municipality of Solo.

As they arrived at the site, the two leaders performed tahiyyatul masjid (greeting the mosque) prayer, followed by the inscription signing to officially inaugurate the grand mosque.

Before leaving the grand mosque, President Jokowi and President MBZ planted sala trees in the mosque courtyard and took a group picture.

For the record, the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque of Solo is a replica of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque of Abu Dhabi, UAE. The construction of the mosque, which was a gift from the UAE President, has been carried out since March last year. (DND/UN) (GWH/EP)
