President Jokowi Checks Food Prices in Kemuning Market Pontianak
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, Tuesday (11/29), visited Kemuning market in the West Kalimantan provincial capital Pontianak to check food prices.
The President stated that he always checks food prices at traditional markets during his working visits to the regions.
“Every time I visit the regions, I always go to the markets to check prices. In addition to providing additional business capital, it is important to check prices, check inflation rate, check whether goods and service prices increase,” he said.
The President also expressed appreciation to the government of Pontianak city for its good job in controlling inflation in the region, which is evident from a decrease in shallot and garlic prices and stable cooking oil price.
“I asked the mayor about inflation. In Pontianak, the rate is under 5 [percent]. It is good. It is lower than the national rate. Very good,” he said while expressing hope that the Central Government and regional governments can work together in controlling inflation both at the national and regional levels as it is an issue that all countries are facing.
“We are taking measures to control inflation and manage it so that it continues to decrease. That is what we expect,” he remarked. (BPMI SETPRES/UN) (DH/HD/MMB)
