Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh,

Good morning. May peace be upon us all.

Distinguished Ministers, Acting Governor of Jakarta along with all ranks of President Directors of state-owned railway company PT Kereta Api, state-run commuter line operator PT KAI Commuter, and state-owned airport train operator PT KAI Bandara;

Ladies and Gentlemen.

Train is an alternative transportation that is well needed by the public and is particularly in high demand. It can bring you to various places faster and more affordable. Therefore, the Government will continue to build and develop railway infrastructure. It is particularly to link densely-populated regions, through commuter line, LRT (Light Rapid Transit), MRT (Mass Rapid Transit), high-speed railway, airport train, and the development of double track railway.

Today, I will inaugurate the expansion of Manggarai Station which is one of the busiest stations in Indonesia. Every day, this station serves Jakarta Kota, Tanah Abang, and Bekasi lines with very heavy traffic and passengers.

Since 2016, we have developed Manggarai Station as the central station in Jakarta and it becomes part of the double track project connecting Manggarai and Cikarang through the addition of tracks, from 7 to 14 tracks, consisting of 10 at-grade tracks and 4 elevated tracks.

The development of this station is crucial to increase the frequency and headway of the train, improve people’s accessibility and mobility from Jakarta to satellite cities and vice versa, improve service of airport train from Soekarno-Hatta Airport, and integrate many modes of public transportation, such as Transjakarta buses, online motorcycle taxis, bajaj taxis, and other modes of transportation. Better and more integrated facilities will also improve the connectivity; make people’s mobility and activity more smooth and efficient; the public will also opt for mass transportation, public transportation.

That concludes my remarks.

By saying bismillahirrahmanirrahim, today I officially inaugurate the development of Manggarai Station Phase I.

I thank you.

Wassalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
