President Jokowi Inaugurates Ahmad Yani Mosque Tower in Manado City

Upon arriving in Manado city, after taking off from Bunaken Port bymotor boat, on Friday (01/20), President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and the entourage visit and perform Friday prayer at Ahmad Yani Mosque in Manado city.

At the mosque, President Jokowi, who was accompanied by Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung and Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, was welcomed by Acting Chairperson of Ahmad Yani Grand Mosque Board Hj. Lutvia Alwi Malabar and Grand Imam of Ahmad Yani Grand Mosque K.H. Sofyan.

The President directly do wudu and proceeded to the provided place.

Meanwhile, Chairperson of Indonesian Ulema Council in Manado (MUI) K.H. Yaser bin Salim Bachmid as the preacher of the Friday prayer delivered a sermon under the theme of “Getting Blessings and Success by Improving the Faith Quality,” and Chairperson of North Sulawesi MUI served as the imam of the Friday prayer.

After performing Friday prayer, President Jokowi inaugurated Ahmad Yani Mosque’s tower with 49 square meter which was established in 2020.

Acting Chairperson of Ahmad Yani Grand Mosque Board Hj. Lutvia Alwi Malabar later explained that the tower was built to support the measures of determining the appearance of the new moon prior to Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr, and Eid al-Adha.

“The tower will be used to determine the appearance of the new moon,” Lutvia said.

Lutvia also added that the mosque’s tower can be a new spiritual destination in Manado city. From the top of the tower, visitors and tourists can observe the beauty of Manado city.

“This will be one of the tourist destinations to see Manado city from atop,” Lutvia added.

Lutvia also expressed her appreciation to President Jokowi who has inaugurated the Ahmad Yani Mosque’s tower after performing Friday prayer and greeted the congregators.
