President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo reminded the Government ranks to continue to carry out reforms in order to improve the quality of services to the public.

“The essence of bureaucratic reform is that the people are served in an effective and accountable manner,” said President Joko Widodo when presiding over a Plenary Cabinet Meeting (SKP) on the 2024 Government Work Plan and the State Civil Apparatus and Bureaucratic Reform Policy, at the State Place, Thursday (03/02) afternoon.

The President conveyed that he could understand the public’s disappointment to certain Government apparatuses who are considered not being able yet to provide good services, but showing arrogant and hedonic behaviors, instead.

“Be careful, not only issues related to tax and customs office, but also the police and other law enforcement institutions and other bureaucratic institutions. No wonder people are disappointed because the services are considered poor, and also, the apparatuses behave arrogantly and hedonistically, they show off power and wealth” he stressed.

The Head of State ordered all Ministers, Heads of Agencies to discipline their respective ranks and remind them of the do’s and don’ts.

“Once again, I would like to emphasize to all of us, our personnel, do not show off power, do not show off wealth, and do not show off on Instagram or social media” he remarked.

President Jokowi specifically ordered the Indonesian Police, the Attorney General Office and other law enforcement institutions to carry out an internal improvement before enforcing law for other government apparatuses. (TGH/UN) (FKH/AW/HD/MUR)
