Forestry Decrees Ensure Certainty to People, President Jokowi Says

The issuance of social forestry decrees affirmed the Government’s effort to provide certainty to the people to manage a land, according to President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo.

The statement was made by the President when handing over social forestry decrees and Agrarian Reform Object Decrees (TORA) to the residents in Blora regency, Central Java province, Friday (03/10).

“To ensure certainty to cultivate a land in the state-owned forestry company Perhutani area, social forestry decrees are issued. The decrees also provide certainty to the people to manage the land,” the President added.

He also called on the residents to adopt agroforestry system which is a land use practice where woody perennials are integrated with agricultural crops.

“[The land] is planted with trees for instance teak or mahogany, and also planted with corn, cassava, or sweet potato. I think that’s how it should be,” he said.

On that occasion, the Head of State also expressed his gratitude over the completion of agrarian reforms in Blora regency through the issuance of land certificates to the people by Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/the National Land Agency (BPN). (AIT/UN) (RAS/ MMB)
