Indonesia and Singapore Agree to Tie Cooperations

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Hsien Loong had a bilateral meeting at Singapore’s Presidential Palace, on Thursday (03/16). During the meeting, both leaders agreed to tie cooperations in several sectors.

“In general, the meeting resulted in 20 Letters of Intent from Singaporean private sectors to invest in Nusantara Capital, nine B-to-B MoUs in healthcare and digital sector, and seven G-to-G MoUs in energy, health, and digital sectors,” President Jokowi stated during a press statement with PM Lee Hsien Loong after the meeting.

On the construction of Nusantara Capital, the President sincerely welcomed the Singaporean investors’ great intention. The Head of State also welcomed the agreement between both countries to improve investment in new renewable energy (EBT).

“Investment in new renewable energy which will be used to provide energy for both countries,” said the Head of State.

Furthermore, the President welcomed the cooperations between Indonesian Government and Singaporean Government in digital sector as well as in human resource development in information technology sector.

 “Cooperation in digital sector, information, and data center, and cooperation in human resource development in information technology sector. Currently, we have Apple (Developer) Academy and IBM Academy in Batam city,” he explained.

President Jokowi also welcomed further cooperation between both countries in trade sector, among others, in providing Indonesian livestock products to meet the demand of Singapore.

Lastly, the President also welcomed the cooperation of both countries in improving healthcare services in Indonesia. “[Cooperation] in improving basic healthcare services and health technology, and investment in upgrading Indonesian hospitals,” he remarked. (MAY/UN)(AW/HD)
