President Jokowi Attends Mass Prayer in S. Kalimantan

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Friday (03/17) attended the Rabithah Melayu-Banjar Istigasah (mass prayer) in Tabalong regency, South Kalimantan province.

On that occasion, President Jokowi expressed his gratitude for the enthusiasm and spirit of the Melayu-Banjar community who uphold the religious, traditional values.

The President further said that Indonesia is a home to 280 million people living on 17,000 islands with diverse ethnicities, traditions, races, and religions, while underscoring that the community must strengthen the spirit of ukhuwah islamiyah (Islamic brotherhood), ukhuwah wathaniyah (national brotherhood), and ukhuwah insaniyah (humanitarian brotherhood).

“The diversity should be bound by the spirit of unity in diversity, bound by the national consensus of Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution, the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, and Bhinneka Tunggal Ika,” he said.

With the spirit of ukhuwah (brotherhood), President Jokowi continued, the Indonesian people can  work hand in hand to make a great leaps for Indonesia.

“We can live side by side, live in harmony, and go hand in hand with the spirit of mutual cooperation in order to realize an advanced country,” he remarked. (JW/UN) (AP/LW)
