President Jokowi to Inaugurate Operation of Makassar-Parepare Railway Line

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and First Lady Ibu Iriana Jokowi kicked off working visit in South Sulawesi province on Wednesday (03/29).

The President and his entourage arrived at Sultan Hasanuddin Air Force Base, Maros regency at around 10.50 Central Indonesian Time (WITA) using the Indonesia-1 Presidential Aircraft.

Upon arrival, the President and the First Lady were welcomed by Governor of South Sulawesi Andi Sudirman Sulaiman before heading to Tramo Traditional Market, Maros regency to inspect and hand over direct cash assistance to market traders.

On that occasion, the President will head to Maros Railway Depot to inaugurate the depot as well as to officiate the operation of Makassar-Parepare’s Maros-Barru railway line.

The President is also scheduled to take the train to Rammang-Rammang station to inspect station facilities and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) stands. Then, he is slated to visit the Fisherman Village of Pajukukang to talk with representatives of fisherman.

In addition, the President will also head to Terong Market in Makassar city to hand over direct cash assistance to market traders.

President and Ibu Iriana are scheduled to stay overnight in Makassar city to continue the agenda in the next day.
