President Jokowi Meets with UAE Ambassador

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo received a visit from Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to the Republic of Indonesia Abdulla Salem Al Dhaheri at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Tuesday (04/04).

At the meeting, the President extended his congratulations to Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan who has been appointed Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and also to His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed as Vice President of the United Arab Emirates.

“President Jokowi asked to convey these congratulatory messages to both of them,” said Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi in a statement after accompanying the President.

In addition, during the meeting President Jokowi also addressed about efforts to strengthen economic relations between the two countries. The President expressed hope that the finalization of the ratification of the Indonesia-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership can be completed soon.

“President Jokowi expressed his hope that all processes can be completed maximally by the end of this year,” she continued.

Retno added that other efforts to strengthen economic relations discussed were related to UAE investment in a number of infrastructure projects in the country.

“He also raised about several investment projects, including in the field of port development which is also expected to be completed soon,” Retno added.

The President also expressed willingness to attend the World Climate Action Summit in December.

“The President also said that he will attend the World Climate Action Summit which will be held in early December, coinciding with the celebration of the 52nd UAE National Day,” she said. (BPMI SETPRES/AIT) (EST/MMB)
