President Jokowi Concludes Working Visit in Hannover, Germany

After attending a series of events at the 2023 Hannover Messe in Germany, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Monday (04/17) concluded his overseas working visit.
President Jokowi and his limited entourage took off to return home from Hannover Airport onboard flag carrier Garuda Indonesia GIA-1 aircraft at 12.55 local time and is estimated to arrive at Soekarno Hatta Airport in Banten province on Tuesday (04/18) morning.
During his visit to Germany, the President was scheduled to carry out several activities.
On Sunday (04/16), the President took a morning walk and greeted a number of Indonesian citizens around the hotel in Hannover.
In the afternoon, the President was slated to hold a business meeting with the leaders of three European companies, including Germany’s chemical company BASF, French global mining and metallurgy group Eramet, and automotive manufacturer Volkswagen’s battery company PowerCo at the Kastens Luisenhoff Hotel, Hannover.
Afterward, the President visited Hannover Town Hall to sign the state capital golden book.
The President continued his agenda by attending the opening of the 2023 Hannover Messe with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz at the Hannover Congress Centrum (HCC).
In his remarks, President Jokowi said that Indonesia is open to investment and cooperation, including in industrial downstream and green economy.
“We are not closing ourselves. Instead, we are very open to investment and cooperation in building downstream industry in Indonesia,” the President said.
According to the President, Indonesia boasts enormous potential, reflected in the projected investment value in the country’s downstream roadmap that reaches US$545.3 billion.
“Until 2040, there will be 21 commodities in the downstream roadmap projected to attract an investment of US$545.3 billion,” he said.
In the evening, the Head of State held a bilateral meeting with the Germany Chancellor at the Lower Saxony Government Guesthouse.
On Monday (04/17), the President officially opened the Indonesian Pavilion at the 2023 Hannover Messe.
The President also visited several booths of Indonesian companies participating in the exhibition.
On that occasion, the President also held a business meeting with business actors in Germany, which took place in Hall 2 of the Hannover Fairground.
In the meeting, the President invited Germany to establish mutually beneficial business partnerships as the partnership has been around since the 18th century.
“The Indonesia-Germany partnership should serve as a good example of a North-South partnership. A partnership that is equal, mutually respectful, and mutually beneficial. This is the face of the partnership for the future,” the President remarked. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/UN) (RIF /MUR)
