President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Tuesday (04/18) held a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Petr Fiala at Bogor Presidential Office in West Java province.
According to the President, this visit has a strategic value for both Indonesia and the Czech Republic.
“This visit is very important. It is the first visit from Czech’s head of government,” he stated while expressing happiness for welcoming his Czech counterpart in the country following his working visit to Hannover, Germany.
“I just arrived from Hannover this morning and starting tomorrow, Indonesia will have a one-week holiday for Eid al-Fitr, but I am delighted, I am overjoyed that this meeting can be held,” he added.
Echoing a similar sentiment, PM Fiala also underscored the importance of Indonesia-Czech cooperation.
“Indonesia is a very important partner for Czechia and the EU,” he said while expressing appreciation for Indonesia’s successful G20 Presidency and hope that Indonesia’s ASEAN Chairmanship this year will also be successful.
For the record, this meeting is a follow up of the two leaders’ meeting on December 14 last year in Brussels, Belgium. During the past meeting, President Jokowi discussed several issues with his Czech counterpart, namely cooperation on economy, defence and strategic industry, and the Indo-Pacific region.
