Following the rise in COVID-19 cases recently, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has once again reminded the public of the importance of getting vaccinated, including the first dose to the second booster.

According to the President, this is one of the required steps in tackling the increasing trend of the COVID-19 spread.

“The COVID-19 spread is slightly on the rise, but we don’t need to overreact in responding to this. Therefore, I would like to once again remind the public of the importance of vaccination, for the first and second doses, as well as the first and second boosters,” President Jokowi said in a statement at Bogor Presidential Palace, Wednesday (19/04).

The Head of State also urged the public to remain vigilant and to continue following public health advice in reducing COVID-19 cases by continuing to adhere to health protocols.

“I am appealing to the people who might feel ill and to those with comorbidities to wear a face mask. Wearing a face mask should also be mandatory when meeting elderly people,” he added.

President Jokowi also reminded the public to maintain hygiene by washing hands after doing activities. “Don’t forget to wash your hands after doing activities,” he said. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/UN) (AY/LW)
