President Jokowi Invites Business Sector to Make ASEAN “Epicentrum of Growth”

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Wednesday (05/10) invited business sector to collaborate in maintaining ASEAN as the epicentrum of growth.

The statement was made by President Jokowi when leading ASEAN Leaders’ Interface with Representatives of ASEAN-Business Advisory Council (BAC), at Meruorah Hotel, Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara province.

“Let us join hands to draw up our joint agenda in order to maintain ASEAN as the epicentrum of growth,” he said.

According to the President, the collaboration, partnership, and synergy established between the Government and business sector had brought contribution to ASEAN to tackle COVID-19 pandemic. The collaboration and synergy are needed to face current serious challenges, grave geopolitical risks, and the US and Europe banking crisis.

“During this situation, we must strengthen our collaboration to maintain ASEAN as the epicentrum of growth,” he said.

He also expressed belief that ASEAN has a huge potential to become the epicentrum of growth considering the region’s economy which grew above global average, demographic dividend, percentage of middle-class population that is projected to increase by 65 percent by 2030. (MAY/UN) (RAS/LW)
