President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo accompanied by First Lady Iriana Jokowi visited Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park on Sunday (05/21) as part of the G7 Outreach Meeting.

Upon arrival at 08.30 local time, the President and the First Lady were welcomed by the Governor of Hiroshima Prefecture Hidehiko Yuzaki and Mayor of Hiroshima Kazumi Matsui. The President and the First Lady then went to Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum.

Afterward, President Jokowi and other country leaders walked to the cenotaph to participate in a wreath-laying ceremony and pay respect to the victims of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima.

On a separate occasion, First Lady Iriana, the First Lady of Japan Yuko Kishida, and the spouses of G7 partner country leaders also took part in the wreath-laying ceremony and paying respect to the bombing victims. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/UN) (DH/MMB)
