President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Tuesday (06/20) inspected the progress of the construction of PT Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara (AMNT) smelter in West Sumbawa regency, West Nusa Tenggara province.

“I want to make sure that the progress is according to the plan and will be completed by the middle of next year,” President Jokowi told the press.

The President’s statement is based on the results of the latest verification carried out by the investment team and Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. The construction progress has reached 51.63 percent. “In mid-2024 it will be completed,” said the President.

PT AMNT will have a production capacity of 900,000 tons of concentrate. President Jokowi expressed hope that industrialization can also be carried out on copper cathode derivative products to provide added value and open up as many jobs as possible.

The President added that when the construction of the smelter has been completed and is ready to produce – whether it comes from nickel, copper, bauxite and tin – it will provide the maximum added value to the domestic economy.

“Both in the forms of export value and job opportunities,” said the President. (BPMI/AIT) (EST/MMB)
