President Jokowi Distributes Sacrificial Cattle to All Provinces

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Friday (06/23) will distribute sacrificial cattle as community assistance for Eid al-Adha of Hijriah (Islamic Calendar) 1444 to all 38 provinces in Indonesia.

“This year, President Jokowi will distribute sacrificial cattle for Eid al-Adha of Hijriah 1444. Last year, the cattle were distributed to 34 provinces. This year, the cattle will also be distributed to new provinces, meaning that they were distributed to 38 provinces,” Head of Presidential Secretariat Heru Budi Hartono said at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta.

On that occasion, Heru said that the President’s sacrificial cattle will be handed over to the management places in respective provinces.

Heru further said that the Presidential Secretariat has collaborated with Ministry of Agriculture and Ministry of Religious Affairs to provide the President’s sacrificial cattle.

For the record, all the cattle have had their health checked, are free of foot and mouth disease, and weigh between 900 kilograms and 1.2 tonnes each. The types of cattle distributed to each province vary, including Simmental, Limousin, Angus, Brahman, and Ongolean crossbred.

“In Jakarta, President Jokowi will hand over the cattle to Istiqlal mosque. It is male Simmental cattle weighing 1.2 tons,” he added.

In order to ensure the good management of the sacrificial cattle in each province, Heru said that the Presidential Secretariat has coordinated with related parties, agencies in the provinces.

“The Presidential Secretariat has held a Zoom meeting hosted by the Deputy, delivering the message that everything must run smoothly and certainly, related agencies in the province must also assist, especially in maintaining the health of the cattle,” he remarked.  (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/UN) (AP/MUR)
