President Jokowi Meets with Australia’s Governor-General David Hurley
As part of his state visit to Australia, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Tuesday (07/04) met with Australia’s Governor-General David Hurley at Admiralty House in Sydney.
Upon arrival at the Admiralty House, President Jokowi was welcomed by the Governor General before they proceeded to walk to the state welcoming ceremony as the firing of cannon 21 times took place.
The state welcoming ceremony continued by reverberating national anthems of the two countries and an inspection of the ranks of honor.
On that occasion, they also introduced their respective delegation.
For the record, President Jokowi was accompanied by, among others, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno LP Marsudi, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan, Minister of Investment/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board Bahlil Lahadalia, and Indonesian Ambassador to Australia Siswo Pramono.
Afterwards, the President and the Governor-General went inside the Admiralty House Lotus Room for a guest book signing and a bilateral meeting.
During the meeting, President Jokowi delivered his appreciation to his counterpart for Australia’s support in strengthening bilateral relations between the two neighboring countries.
“I would like to see close relations between the two governments that will be followed by close relations between peoples of the countries,” he said.
After the meeting, President Jokowi and Governor-General David Hurley took a group photo with Prime Minister of Australia Anthony Albanese at the veranda of the Admiralty House before a luncheon session. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/AIT)(RAS/EP)
