President Jokowi Lauds Growing Flight Activities at Kertajati International Airport
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo lauded the growing flight activities at Kertajati International Airport, West Java province.
“I am very pleased because the activities at Kertajati Airport have been running very well. Currently, the airport is used for Hajj embarkation for approximately 8,000 pilgrims from seven regencies/cities in West Java province,” the President told the media after the inspection on Tuesday (07/11).
In addition to the Hajj embarkation, the President said that the airport has also provided services for several international flights, such as Umrah flights four times a week and Kuala Lumpur-Kertajati route flights twice a week.
“Starting in October, the airport will be fully functional, meaning that flights from Husein Sastranegara Airport will be shifted to Kertajati, especially for jet aircraft,” the President said.
On that occasion, the President also expressed appreciation for the enthusiasm of investors from several countries to invest in the airport. The President said that the Government will immediately decide and accelerate the investment process of the investors.
“We will make a decision later in October on those who operate and also partake in the ownership of Kertajati Airport, we hope that the traffic will be denser if foreign investors participate in it,” the President said.
The President also expressed hope that several efforts made by the Government to increase flight activities at this airport can yield the best results. Moreover, the Cisumdawu Toll Road which will soon be inaugurated can shorten the travel time between the airport and Bandung city.
“I believe this airport will become a future airport with very heavy traffic,” he remarked. (BPMI/UN) (FI/LW)
