President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Wednesday (07/12) inspected Si Jalak Harupat stadium in Bandung regency, West Java province.

“Today, I come to Si Jalak Harupat stadium in Bandung regency, West Java province to inspect the newly renovated stadium which work was carried out by the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing,” the President said.

President Jokowi went on to say that some improvements have been made to, among others, spectator seating, turf field, lighting, toilets, changing rooms, and stadium entrances and exits.

“Thorough [repair] was carried out by the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing,” he added.

The President further said that an inspection by the Fédération International de Football Association (FIFA) will again be conducted to ensure the stadium’s readiness for the upcoming FIFA U-17 World Cup after it was previously being inspected for FIFA U-20 World Cup.

President Jokowi underscored that there are six until eight stadiums being prepared for FIFA U-17 World Cup.

“It is FIFA, not the President, that determines whether it is feasible or not [for U-17 World Cup]. Our tasks are to prepare, improve, and renovate,” he remarked. (TGH/UN) (AP/MMB)
