Indonesian Scouts to Participate in World Scout Jamboree

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Friday (07/14) welcomed Chairperson of the Indonesian Scout Movement Budi Waseso at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta.

On the occasion, Budi reported to President Jokowi some events that are going to be held and attended by the Indonesian Scout Movement in commemoration of the National Scout Day, including the World Scout Jamboree.

“In the near future, we will participate in the World Scout Jamboree. We are among the largest contingents from other countries as we currently have 1,700 participants attending this year’s World Scout Jamboree,” he said in a press statement.

Budi went on to say that the Indonesian Scout Movement has asked the President to personally send-off the Indonesian Scout Contingent participating in the World Scout Jamboree. The President also asserted that he gives full support for all scouts activities.

“President Jokowi said that he will always support scouts activities. The President also had a message, specifically for the Scout contingent attending the World Scout Jamboree, to carrying out a mission to promote Indonesia,” he added.

Budi further said that of the Indonesian Scout Movement has several upcoming events including the 2023 National Scout Camp in Jakarta and the National Meeting of the Indonesian Scout Movement to be held in December 2023 in Aceh province.

Echoing the same sentiment, Minister of Youth and Sports Dito Ariotedjo said that the Ministry will fully support the scouting activities, while underscoring that the 2023 National Scout Camp in Jakarta will be the most modern scouting event in Indonesia.

“This will be a brand-new initiative from the Indonesian Scout Movement. It is our hope that our Indonesian youths will be more enthusiastic with scouting activities,” he added.

Furthermore, the Minister underlined that scouting activities in Indonesia can effectively help the Government in building a better character for the young generation in the future. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/AIT) (AP/MMB)
