President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Thursday (07/20) inaugurated Bengkulu-Taba Penanjung toll road, in Bengkulu city, Bengkulu province.

During the inauguration ceremony, President Jokowi expressed hope that the toll road can stimulate the emergence of new economic growth centers.

“Alhamdulillah, this morning Bengkulu-Taba Penanjung toll road will start operating to facilitate logistics mobility, people’s mobility, and create new economic growth centers,” the President said.

The President went on to say that the toll road is also expected to support economic growth and improve people’s welfare in Bengkulu area.

“We hope the completion of the toll road will boost economic growth, speed up the mobility of people and goods, and bring prosperity to our people because Bengkulu’s competitiveness will definitely improve,” he said.

For the record, the 16.7 kilometers Bengkulu-Taba Penanjung toll road is part of the Bengkulu-Lubuklinggau section. The infrastructure was built with a budget allocation of Rp4.8 trillion. (FID/UN) (RIF/LW)
