President Jokowi Holds Bilateral Meeting with Tanzanian President

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Tuesday (08/22) had a bilateral meeting with the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Samia Suluhu Hassan at Dar Es Salaam State House, Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania.

“President Hassan, thank you for welcoming me and the delegation. This is my first visit to Tanzania. We are grateful to have strong roots in our relationship since the Asian-African Conference in Bandung in 1955, and the Non-Aligned Movement in 1961,” President Jokowi said in the meeting.

President Jokowi also invited President Samia to continue strengthening solidarity and collaboration between developing countries based on the spirit of historical Asian-African Conference and the Non-Aligned Movement.

“With the “Bandung Spirit”, let us continue to strengthen solidarity and collaboration among the countries in the global south,” the President said.

President Jokowi further said that said the countries of the global south comprise 85 percent of the world’s population, so that the world should pay attention to the voice and the interests of the global south countries. (BPMI SETPRES/UN) (RI/MMB)
