President Jokowi Monitors Staple Food Prices at N. Sumatra’s Brahrang Market

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Friday (08/25) inspected Brahrang Market in Binjai city, North Sumatra province, to monitor the prices of staple food.

After the inspection, the President said that the prices of basic commodities, such as shallots, rice, and chicken meat in the market were relatively stable.

“I noticed that the prices are good. Shallots are sold at around Rp20 thousand to Rp22 thousand [per kg]. It is a good price since shallots are sold at Rp24 [thousand] to Rp26 [thousand] in Java [island],” he said.

The Head of State also confirmed that there is an increase in the price of premium rice at the market. Meanwhile, the chicken meat is at a good price, he added.

“There is a slight increase in the price of premium rice, as I checked. Chicken meat is at a good price of Rp24-26 [thousand],” the President said. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/UN) (RAS/MMB)
