President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Tuesday (09/05) officially inaugurated the 2023 ASEAN Indo-Pacific Forum (AIPF) Summit at the Ballroom of Mulia Hotel, Jakarta.

On that occasion, the President stated that AIPF is present to transform rivalries in the Indo-Pacific region into concrete and beneficial cooperation.

“The forum is also expected to build a habit of cooperation based on a win-win formula where no one feels excluded,” the President said.

Following the opening ceremony, the President invited the leaders of ASEAN countries to visit an exhibition showcasing inclusive, innovative, and collaborative strategic projects.

According to the President, the exhibition highlights the spirit of ASEAN to become the center of global economic growth.

The exhibition area outside the ballroom was divided into several zones, including green infrastructure, sustainable financing, digital transformation, and creative economy.

During the exhibition, state leaders get brief explanations about several ideas and projects in each zone, some projects already completed and others are still in the development process.

In the meantime, Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno LP Marsudi said that ASEAN is firmly committed to fostering a peaceful, just, and prosperous Indo-Pacific region

Through AIPF, Retno said that the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific (AOIP) concept would be translated into concrete and inclusive cooperation.

“We want the Indo-Pacific to be a peaceful, stable, prosperous region. The approach is centered on concrete and inclusive cooperation. Once again, all the principles outlined in the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific have been translated into the AIPF. The President has also talked about the project and the value it will generate,” the Minister remarked. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/UN) (RIF/MMB)
