President Jokowi Calls on G20 Leaders to Protect Mother Earth

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has called on G20 Leaders to take concrete actions to preserve nature.

“We need to walk the talk because we only have one earth,” President Jokowi said during the first session of the G20 Leaders’ Summit adopting the theme of “One Earth” at Bharat Mandapam, International Exhibition-Convention Centre (IECC), New Delhi, India, Saturday (09/09).

According to the President, countries must cooperate in preserving earth because it belongs to everyone including future generation.

The President told world leaders that Indonesia has been taking numerous concrete actions to protect the earth by, among others, limiting deforestation and promoting mangrove restoration.

“Indonesia in 2022 successfully cut 91.5 million tons of carbon emission and reduce deforestation by 104 thousand hectares. As many as 77,000 hectares of land and forest has been rehabilitated, 34,000 hectares of mangrove forest has been restored,” he stated.

The Head of State also called on countries to be responsible persons and to have commitment in preserving earth.

“Let us realize our responsibilities and affirm our joint commitment to preserve the sustainability of planet earth,” he remarked. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/AIT) (RAS/EP)
