President Jokowi Meets with Tuvalu PM on Sidelines of AIS Forum Summit

On the sidelines of the High-Level Meeting of the Archipelagic and Island States (AIS) Forum, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo held a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister of Tuvalu Kausea Natano at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center (BNDCC), Badung regency, Bali province, Wednesday (10/11).

During the meeting, President Jokowi underlined the importance of strengthening cooperation among Pacific nations as a united family.

“Strengthening cooperation is crucial in addressing common challenges,” the President said.

The President went on to say that the cooperation should be rooted in a spirit of collaboration and mutual respect.

“Sovereignty and territorial integrity are also vital for achieving a peaceful, stable, and prosperous Indo-Pacific region,” he said.

The President also pointed out that Indonesia has raised the aspirations of Pacific countries in various forums, including Indonesia’s ASEAN chairmanship and G20 Summit.

On this occasion, the President also expressed gratitude for the Prime Minister of Tuvalu’s participation in the AIS Forum Summit.

President Jokowi viewed the AIS Forum Summit as a significant opportunity to foster solidarity among archipelagic and island countries.

“I really appreciate your presence. The AIS Forum Summit is an important opportunity to strengthen solidarity between archipelago and island countries through concrete collaboration and inclusive cooperation,” the President remarked. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/AIT) (RIF/LW)
