President Jokowi Meets with PM Trovoada
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo affirmed Indonesia’s commitment to strengthening solidarity and cooperation among global south countries during his first meeting with the Prime Minister of Sao Tome and Principe Patrice Emery Trovoada at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center (BNDCC), Badung regency, Bali province, Wednesday (10/11).
“I am pleased that we can meet for the first time because Indonesia has a strong commitment to bolstering solidarity and global south cooperation in line with the ‘Spirit of Bandung’ 1955,” said President Jokowi.
Meanwhile, during the same occasion, PM Trovoada expressed his gratitude to Indonesia for inviting Sao Tome and Principe to participate in the Archipelagic and Island States Forum (AIS Forum) Summit.
“I am very happy to be in Bali at the moment. Once again, thank you for inviting us and allowing us to share some common concerns,” he said.
PM Trovoada also expressed belief that under Indonesia’s leadership, the AIS Forum this year could generate some agreements because island and archipelagic nations present at the forum share a spirit of South-South cooperation.
“We are very confident that the AIS Forum and Indonesia’s leadership can achieve a lot, because, as you have mentioned, we have a spirit of South-South cooperation,” said PM Trovoada. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/AIT) (AS/MIA)
