President Jokowi Inaugurates Surabaya Islamic Hospital Tower
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo inaugurated the Surabaya A. Yani Islamic Hospital (RSIS A. Yani) Tower, Surabaya, East Java province, on Sunday (10/22).
The 13-story hospital tower was inaugurated in commemoration of the centennial anniversary of one of the biggest Islamic organizations in Indonesia, Nadhlatul Ulama (NU).
“Today we inaugurate the Surabaya A. Yani Islamic Hospital Tower as a living monument and a tribute to commemorate the centennial anniversary of NU,” said the President in his remarks.
President Jokowi said that the tower can increase the capacity and improve the quality of the hospital services. In addition, the tower can also be used as an educational hospital for the Faculty of Medicine of Nadhlatul Ulama University of Surabaya, especially for medical and nursing students.
“The launch of the tower with its modern equipment and facilities also marks the transformation of RSIS A. Yani into a modern and reliable hospital,” said the President, adding that convenient and affordable medical services for all people are also expected to become more accessible.
Also accompanying the President during the inauguration were Minister of Religious Affairs Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, Minister of State Secretariat Pratikno, Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform Abdullah Azwar Anas, Minister of Investment/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Bahlil Lahadalia, Governor of East Java Khofifah Indar Parawansa, and Mayor of Surabaya Eri Cahyadi.
