President Jokowi Inspects Open Space Construction in New Capital
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Thursday (11/02) visited the construction project site of Sumbu Kebangsaan phase I in Indonesia’s new capital of Nusantara (IKN) in North Penajam Paser regency, East Kalimantan province.
Sumbu Kebangsaan is an area of open spaces designed to connect the Presidential Palace and the Mangrove Ecopark, consisting of Plaza Seremoni, Plaza Sipil, Plaza Bhinneka, Science and Tech Park, Plaza Adi Budaya, Plaza Pertunjukan, and Plaza Demokrasi.
Upon arrival at 17.40 Central Indonesian time, President Jokowi inspected the construction progress of some infrastructure at the site.
The President also visited the location of the ceremonial lawn and pedestrian facilities across the lawn, which directly overlooks the Presidential Palace.
Joining the President during the visit were Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Ad Interim Erick Thohir, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Head of the Nusantara Capital Authority Bambang Susantono, and Deputy Head of the Nusantara Capital Authority Dhony Rahajoe.
