Remarks of President of the Republic of Indonesia at the Groundbreaking Ceremony of Nusantara Intercultural School, North Penajam Paser Regency, East Kalimantan Province, Wednesday, November 1, 2023

Assalamu’alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.

Good afternoon,

May peace be upon us all.

Distinguished Ministers, Head of the IKN Authority, Governor of East Kalimantan and Regent of North Penajam Paser.

Distinguished Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of Jakarta Intercultural School (JIS) Mr. Phil Rickard.

Ladies and Gentlemen.

I always get the same question from prospective residents, prospective citizens, prospective inhabitants of Nusantara Capital, “Sir, I want to move there. I will move there, but where will my children go to school? How is the quality of the school?”

Today we get the answer. There is a school, namely Nusantara Intercultural School, which will be developed by JIS from Jakarta. So, we already get the answer. For those who want to move here, please do not hesitate any longer. As of today, we will construct three hospitals and the groundbreaking ceremonies have already been held, since I also get this question, the second most frequent question, “Sir, if my family is sick, if my children are sick, is there a good quality hospital?” The construction (of the hospitals) has also begun.

Therefore, on this good opportunity, I would like extend my gratitude to Jakarta Intercultural School. This is the first international school to be established in Nusantara Capital. Such school to be constructed at Nusantara Capital shows the Government’s commitment to providing various supporting facilities for the city, including providing international standard and world-class educational institutions. And I hope that JIS, with its reputation and long track record in education, can provide world-class education system at the IKN, promote high-class global education system in Nusantara, and provide quality education options for the IKN residents who come from various regions, countries, and backgrounds.

That concludes my speech on this auspicious occasion.
