President Jokowi Bestows National Hero Title at State Palace

President Jokowi on Friday (11/10) bestows the national hero title at the State Palace, Jakarta.

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Friday (11/10) bestowed the national hero title at the State Palace, Jakarta.

The national hero title conferment was based on Decree of the President of the Republic of Indonesia (Keppres) Number 115/TK of 2023 on the Conferment of the National Hero Title. The Decree was issued in Jakarta on November 6, 2023.

“[The title] is a form of appreciation and honor for lifetime extraordinary services, in armed struggle or political struggle, or struggle in other fields to achieve, seize, defend and uphold the independence, as well as to protect national unity and integrity,” the Presidential Decree reads.

The National Hero Title was conferred to the following figures:

  1. Ida Dewa Agung Jambe from Bali province;
  2. Bataha Santiago from North Sulawesi province;
  3. Mohammad Tabrani from East Java province;
  4. Ratu Kalinyamat from Central Java province;
  5. K.H. Abdul Chalim from West Java province; and
  6. K.H. Ahmad Hanafiah from Lampung province.

On that occasion, President Jokowi also awarded Bintang Jasa Pratama medal of honor to the President of the International Football Federation (FIFA) Giovanni Vincenzo Infantino. The award is based on Presidential Decree Number 70/TK of 2023 on the Awarding of Bintang Jasa Pratama Medal of Honor, issued in Jakarta on August 7, 2023.

“[The medal of honor] is a form of  appreciation for great services in a particular field or event for the safety, welfare and greatness of the nation and state, for the devotion and sacrifice in the field of sports for the nation and state, and/or for the services recognized at the national level. [The medal is also awarded] for foreign nationals who have made great contributions to the nation of Indonesia,” the Presidential Decree reads. (FID/UN) (RI/MMB)
