President Jokowi Leads Groundbreaking of Muhammadiyah Hospital

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Friday (11/24) led the groundbreaking of the PKU Muhammadiyah Unimuda Hospital in Sorong regency, Southwest Papua province.

“I have never seen social enterprises of Muhammadiyah that combine a mall, hotel, and hospital. This is the first time in Sorong,” President Jokowi said.

President Jokowi stated the construction of the integrated hospital would be funded by the State Budget amounting Rp256 billion.

“The construction will be completed next year, inshallah,” he added.

The Head of State also ordered the construction be carried out immediately after the groundbreaking and he ordered Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (MPWPH) to send a team to oversee the project.

“The MPWPH will send a team to carry out inspections on the site and study the Detailed Engineering Design (DED) so that it can be carried out as soon as possible,” President Jokowi remarked.

For the record, the PKU Muhammadiyah Unimuda Sorong Hospital will be constructed on a 20,000 square meter of land with 14,603 square meters building area and will be built in two phases. (BPMI Presidential Secretariat/AIT) (GWH/EP)
