Speaking before state civil servants (ASN) who attended the commemoration of the 52nd  Anniversary of the Indonesian Civil Servants Corps (Korpri) Wednesday (11/29) at the Jakarta International Velodrome, Jakarta, Minister of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform Abdullah Azwar Anas underscored the importance of digitalization to optimize ASN’s services to the community.

“ASN as an engine in bureaucracy must be able to solve the existing problems with the most updated approaches. We should not solve current problems with the approaches of the past. Digitalization in government services is a must,” said Anas.

Anas added that the rapid changes that are currently taking place are due to two technological developments and changes in people’s continuously increasing expectations towards the government.

To that end, he expressed hope yhat Korpri can manage to answer the challenges by strengthening all state civil servants’ digital competence and digital culture, as well as to form integrated government digital services by prioritizing community needs.

Anas also emphasized that as a bureaucratic machine, state civil servants’ performance determines the government’s performance; hence the bureaucracy must be ensured to be in prime condition to provide optimal service to the community.

“To ensure the prime condition, a good ecosystem is needed, covering many aspects from ideology, work culture, performance management, to welfare. In the future, Korpri must continuously serve as a lever for bureaucratic performance to ensure that various development programs can be implemented and have a positive impact on society,” he said.

Closing his remarks, the Minister emphasized again President Jokowi’s directive regarding the importance of bureaucratic reform which has an impact on society.

“The President urged all of us to act with a real impact felt by the people,” he said.
