President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Thursday (12/14) inspected the availability of rice at a warehouse managed by the State Logistics Agency (SLA) in the East Java city of Malang and distributed food assistance from the government rice reserves to several beneficiaries.

“Has everyone received the assistance in September, October, November, and December?” the President asked beneficiaries.

“Yes, Sir,” answered the people present in unison.

The President also mentioned that the Government would proceed with the assistance distribution until March next year.

“We hope we still have funds in the State Budget for the assistance in April, May, and June next year,” he said, while ensuring that the local community has received El Nino direct cash assistance and swift action for those waiting for the assistance.

“Some have received the assistance, while others may not have yet as it’s only been a week since the distribution process started. Please check as some will receive it through the post office, and others through the bank,” he said.

Yanti, a resident attending the activity, conveyed her appreciation to the Government for the assistance provided and expressed hope for its continuation.

“We’ve received rice and packages with essential items. We hope this assistance will continue,” she said in a separate statement. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/AIT) (RIF/EP)
