President Jokowi Wraps Up Japan Working Visit

Following the conclusion of his working visit to the Japanese capital of Tokyo, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Tuesday (12/19) at 01.10 Western Indonesian time arrived at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in East Jakarta.

The President and his entourage took off Monday (12/18) at 19.30 local time (17.30 Western Indonesian time) onboard Indonesia-1 Presidential Aircraft from Tokyo’s Haneda International Airport.

During the visit, President Jokowi attended the Commemorative Summit for the 50th Year of ASEAN-.Japan Friendship and Cooperation and the Asia Zero Emission Community (AZEC) Summit, met with Japanese Emperor Naruhito, and had a bilateral meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.

At the Commemorative Summit for the 50th Year of ASEAN-.Japan Friendship and Cooperation, the President stated that ASEAN and Japan have agreed on several shared visions and future partnership implementation plans.

At a joint press statement with the Japanese PM at the Okura Hotel in Tokyo on Sunday (12/17), the President a pointed out that ASEAN and Japan have also agreed to boost cooperation on several sectors, including economic, education, and food and energy security sectors.

The President added that as partners for peace and stability, ASEAN and Japan will remain committed to keeping peace through inclusive collaboration, respect for international laws, and strengthening of ASEAN centrality.

“Through the spirit of friendship, I believe ASEAN and Japan’s partnership can continue to contribute to maintaining stability and peace, bringing people together, and propelling economic growth in the region and the world,” he remarked. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/AIT) (DH/EP)
