President Jokowi Emphasizes Importance of Developing Educational Programs in IKN

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Thursday (12/21) officiated the groundbreaking ceremony of the construction of Building II, Nusantara Campus, Study Program Outside the Main Campus (PSDKU) at Gunadarma University.

In his remarks, the President emphasized the importance of developing higher educational programs in the New Capital of Nusantara (IKN) area to encourage improvements in the quality of Indonesia’s human resources.

“And not only in IKN but also in other cities in Indonesia,” said the President in the IKN area, North Penajam Paser regency, East Kalimantan province.

Therefore, the Head of State urged regional governments to contribute to the development of Indonesia’s human resources, for example, by continuously motivating young people to pursue education and learn new skills.

“I would like to advise local governments to continuously motivate their young people to pursue education and learn new skills that will be really needed later when IKN has developed significantly,” he added.

On this occasion, the President also appreciated the steps taken by Gunadarma University to build Building II, Nusantara Campus, in the IKN buffer area. He also welcomed the construction of the building which will later function as a learning facility for students.

“I happily welcome the laying of the first stone for the construction of Building II of the Nusantara Campus of PSDKU, Gunadarma University in North Penajam Paser, a buffer zone for the New Capital of Nusantara,” he said.

Additionally, the Head of State also expressed belief that Gunadarma University is one of the top universities in Indonesia with a very large number of students which keep increasing in the Nusantara Campus.

“And here the Rector has said that in this first semester there are only 200 students enrolled, but next year it is estimated that there will be 700 students,” said the President. (Presidential Secretariat’s Bureau of Press, Media, and Information (BPMI)/AIT) (TM/MUR)
