President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo chaired a limited meeting on the preparations ahead of the 10th World Water Forum, which will be held on May 19-20, 2024.

“Earlier, we participated in a limited meeting to finalize preparations for the World Water Forum, which will be held in Bali on the 19th and 20th,” Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said in his statement after the meeting at the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java province, Monday (04/29).

Luhut highlighted that the 10th  WWF is an important forum for global leaders and water experts. It is expected to be a productive platform to discuss water sustainability issues around the world.

“There are 14 heads of state and 50,000 [participants] who will attend. And, Mr. Sandiaga Uno is already smiling because he has sold out all his hotels,” Luhut said.

In addition to being the center of global discussion, this forum is also considered an excellent opportunity for Indonesia in the tourism sector. Therefore, logistics, regional, and security preparations must also be ensured.

“I think this is a very good opportunity for the tourism sector, and the Governor has also expressed his readiness. The Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri) are also ready to ensure security,” he said.

It is expected that the 10th WWF will not only be a platform that produces innovative solutions to global water issues but also a clear example of Indonesia’s success in hosting large-scale international events. (TGH/UN) (FI/MMB)
